Our Youth of the Month is Dr. Njang Mbeng Emmanuel! Dr. Njang Mbeng Emmanuel is a medical doctor at the Fundong District Hospital (Fundong is a town and commune in Cameroon. It is the capital of Boyo Division, with a population of about 20,000. It is situated about 80 km from Bamenda, the regional Headquarters of the North West region. The population of Fundong is mostly rural with farming as primary occupation) and is the first ever Cameroonian to have been President of the Federation of African Medical Students Associations (FAMSA).
Dr. Njang plays a key role in the running of HERO (Health Education and Research Organization) Cameroon, a health organization which has carried out over 20 medical admissions in rural areas in Cameroon to address different medical problems of relevance and has also launched many health campaigns to educate the public on various health and social ills like drug abuse. He is also the medical director of Maealth which runs a mobile health application called “Help Yourself”.
On Awards and Recognitions
Dr. Njang is the Pioneer Winner of the University of Buea Medical Students Alumni (UBMSAA) Leadership Award. In 2017, he was featured among the 50 Most Influential Young Cameroonians in “Science & Technology” category.
In 2018, he was nominated for the DigCitSDG award at the Digital Citizenship Summit – Cameroon for his promotion of Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being). He was also selected for the 6th edition of the Cameroon Leadership Academy.
